Uh Oh... Its Beginning Again! Got Wood?
So i told myself i wouldnt mod this car this year and just drive it this year and enjoy it. Bought a few odds and ends up but nothing serious... untill now. I was cruising back from a car meet last night and was almost the end of my 69! So its at a set of lights and guy was coming out of the gas station crossed three lanes of traffic right at the corner to turn. Totally jackass and stupid balsy move. Anyway happened so last i see him cut off the one car in the middle lane and im on the on the outer lane. I thought he wouldnt think of trying to cross three lanes at a corner to turn right at the set of lights if that makes sence. Anyway im doing about 50-60 with four way drums non power see whats happening and hoping he wouldnt cut me off but and worse thing happened he attepted it. Luckily locked the tires up and stopped just in the nick of time to just miss the van. I stopped threw it in park and got out of my car and went ballastic on the couple in the van. Literally half second later i would have creamed him having no chance probubly either if i had good brakes or not praying he wasnt as stupid as he was thinking. The couple just looked at me thinking oh crap and shitting there pants. Either way just some amazing driving skills we have out there. Anyway to end the rant the next morning was poking around on the net and found a factory disc kit for my car on kijiji and two adds down was the kit i happend to grab. They sent the wrong kit and was going to be more hassle and money on his end to ship it back he wanted to flog it and get rid of it local. Saved couple hundred off the new price and likely alot on what it would cost on shipping from California direct. Here's the start of pro-touring and money flying out of my pockets.

Re: Uh Oh... Its Beginning Again! Got Wood?
Can't go wrong with better brakes! I did the C4HD fronts and LS1 rears on my 4 wheel disc Iroc a few years ago and can't be happier..still can't belive how many years I drove with crap brakes on a fast car!

Nice new brakes but money spent on parts won't minimize driver risk alone. Locking your brakes provides zero control so I'd also invest money into driving school at nearby Mosport to save your ride going forward. This course will provide you with additional safety margin for dangerous situations encountered in future.

Re: Uh Oh... Its Beginning Again! Got Wood?
First of all the car didnt slide it locked and stopped immediatly which i was shocked being what it was. Second of im actually a pretty damn good defensive driver and it wouldnt matter how much driver training anyone had you were screwed in the situation. Either you cream the car in front of you or your going up and over the curb into pedestrians which is 10x worse. Thanks for the heads up on thinking i need driver training though...

It's not a mod. Think of it as safety peace of mind. Anything that makes it safer should be an easy purchase.

1) You've obviously failed basic spelling and continue to be challenged in this area 2) Your attitude needs adjusting. Keep it in check and use the ability to learn. 3) Your own admission on this post that you LOST control of your vehicle 4) You rationalized buying expensive parts as a reason to alter the above situation.

Re: Uh Oh... Its Beginning Again! Got Wood?
What does spelling have to do with this conversation? Trying to be a arrogant over the net to prove nothing... awesome jab!
My attitude needs adusting? Who are you pal? Your double my age and acting like your in the 5th grade.
It says no where that i lost control the tires locked for a split second then and i stopped i did not slide or swerve out of control as you mentioned or seem to think.
The brakes were bought to help prevent an incident that i just had from getting worse not to help my driving skills. The stopping power of four way drums non power vs a disc setup is second non and will cut stopping distance in half.
FYI a stock single piston stock disc conversion runs $500 and i got the wilwoods for the same price which is dirt cheap and not over rationalized but thanks for coming out again.
Lastly if you have something to say PM me nobody want see your jackass remarks on a thread about a close call experience and a new mod.
Might aswell lock this thread up Mods nobody wants to read this garbage.

Re: Uh Oh... Its Beginning Again! Got Wood?
Matt; Must have been your vividly descriptive detail of the incident that led to believe you lost control. I'm sure your outstanding reflexes and quick wit saved the day. Those van occupants probably didn't know what to think either. Were you wearing club attire at the time or have a bumper sticker saying "how's my driving? Call 967-1111" Maybe YOU could open a driving school to teach others less fortunate. Look out for Durham drivers tailgaiting you with your new found stopping performance.

Im not sure what happen here, I would expect better from both you as highly respected Club Members.
Being a Club Member does not give you a free card to bash anyone on here, nevermind another member. I was OK with things until they got to certain point, then it went to far.
If you dont agree with someone's thread, dont reply....period.
Thanks Chris for taking care of this.
