Post What's it Worth?
Hey guys,

I'm planning on selling my complete engine per below off in the spring.
What are your thoughts on what it's worth?

I have receipts for every part.
The engine is a complete drop-in for a 3rd gen with the computer, harness, and all B body accessories.
Can sell with 3rd gen Mac mid-length headers and y-pipe.

Block: LT1 5.7L (350ci) 1995
Heads: ‘643’ Castings (best LT1 casting for porting – thicker deck and port walls) ported by Lloyd Elliott.
Compression 11.1:1 – runs on 91 octane.
Cam: LE2.2 107LSA 0.603” valve lift with 1.6 Comp Cams Pro Mag rockers
Intake: Ported 1995 LT1
MAF: 3-1/2” F-body
Engine Management: Stock LT1 PCM tuned by Bryan Herter (pcm4less.com)

Engine had 87,000Kms on it when originally swapped in from Buick Roadmaster, had 95,000Kms on it when I did the H/C swap, since then maybe 3,000Kms more.
Ported Heads & Cam – Lloyd Elliott 2.2 Package with matched camshaft (elliottsportworks.com).
New parts include:
Ferra 2.00/1.56” Valves
PAC 1218 Bee-Hive Ovate Wire Valve Springs (set to 1.750/1.760” = 140lbs, 377lbs @ 1.147”)
Comp Cams Pro Magnum 1.6 (Full Roller Rockers)
Comp Cams HiTech 5/16” Chromoly 7.200” Pushrods
Comp Cams HiTech Double Full Roller Timing Chain – cam was degreed
ARP Head Bolts
ARP 3/8” Screw-In Rocker Studs
Mezier Electric Water Pump
GM 0.029” ‘Impala’ Head Gaskets (thinner than standard aluminum head LT1 for greater quench, Impala's had iron heads)
GM – all other replaced gaskets
GM Performance Hardened Guide Plates
Accel 58mm 1000cfm Billet Throttle Body
Delphi Disc Type Injectors (42.3lb/hr @43.5psi)
Delco Knock Sensor
Delco Oxygen Sensors

Delco PCV Valve
GM Vette PS Reservoir
GM Vette Intake Duct with Air Temp Sensor
GM Rear Main Seal & Oil Block Adapter (to put large older style filter on block)
MSD Custom Plug Wires

SLP 160° T-Stat
PS Pressure Line

What its worth and what you can get are 2 different things. You need to find someone that is looking to do a 3rd gen swap to get the most out of it. The 374 and 643 casting were the ones that everyone looked for when getting them ported the 561 were a bit better in stock form but less desirable when porting. $3-4K if you find the right buyer

Its all in finding the right buyer. The LT1 market has been slowing down ALOT lately and more so in the last year or two due to the LSx stuff becoming more and more affordable. Im going through it right now trying to sell mine and have a buyer lined up for my fully built forged 355 and im getting 5-6k for it. I was going to part it out and had the shortblock up for sale and guy interested wanted everything i am taking a hit that way but alteast its all gone and im getting a somewhat decent dollar. You might have to resort to parting it out to get the most out of it if the offers rolling in arent what your hoping for.

If what I hear about Ontario emmision testing is true, the OBD2 cars that mod up the ECM's for engine mods are going to fail e-tests for modding the computers automatically...The pre 98 cars and especially the OBD1 cars won't have the ECM's checked so maybe there is some hope to put a bit of extra Ummph under the hood and not worry about e-testing as long as you have a good tune, might put a bit more intrest into the dying LT1 market???

Ya, I agree on the LT1 market slowing down with the LS prices coming down and everything being more available..
I'd rather not part it out just for the hassle.. we'll see how it goes come spring.

It would be nice to see the value go up because of our joke of a government too!

So, sold the LT1 as a complete, basically turn-key set-up. I'm happy as I don't have to deal with parting it out.
It's going to a good home in a 60's musclecar to replace a spent, bad running 305 TPI. It's going to haul.

I'l have to start a build thread for the 6.0 LQ4.
I swapped in an LS6 cam, PAC valve springs, and have Katech rod bolts in it, but otherwise stock. The plan is to boost it this winter with a TC76. The turbo is small, but I want it on the boost early!

Yeah, still lots of life in the LT-1. Emissions pass no worries, no hassles.
There's something for keeping it stock to a point.
