Battery Suggestions
I am typically hard on batteries - I will often forget to take them out over the winter, or take it out of the car but leave in the garage, and I dont drive my car much, so it seems like in all the years I had hobby cars I am buying a new battery every couple years - regardless of the car I have.
Other than the obvious (take the battery inside in the winter, put on trickle charger/tender etc)...any suggestions on a decent replacement battery?
I dont even want to bother with the mastercrap ones anymore - What are some of my better/more durable options - optima (red/yellow - whats the difference), are the NAPA batteries any good?
Ideas? Thanks, DK

Re: Battery Suggestions
Optima are $$ NAPA batteries are good All I do is disconnect the cables and leave the battery in the car. If it's dead in the spring it's junk. I've only bought 1 battery over 10 years

Re: Battery Suggestions
I haven't bought a battery in years. But I use to swear by interstate batteries.

Re: Battery Suggestions
back in the late 90's I used to swear by Optima, but the last 3 I bought were nothing but garbage, the mastercrap lasted longer, swore never buy one again I have had good luck recently with both the napa batteries and interstate, so that is what I usually run now, best battery I have ever owned was from CAA of all places, that battery just wouldn't die, wish I didn't let it go with the car when I sold it

Re: Battery Suggestions
Interstate batteries factory store offers refurbished units at great savings. They are located on Hwy 50 just south of Bolton and have an excellent reputation.

Re: Battery Suggestions
I have a mastercrap in my car. No issues since I got 3 years ago. My car sits all week and I've NEVER removed it for winter. I just disconnect the negative cable.

Re: Battery Suggestions
Costco Kirklands are made by Johnson Controls. I believe they make the intersate's and a bunch of others. Also come with 120 month pro-rated warranty and are usually between $50 and $70. I've had them for years in all my cars and have never had a problem.

Re: Battery Suggestions
I had an optima in the Camaro and wouldn't last me 1 week without starting the car. I am running Exide Sub-Zero. Best battery I even own and comes with 3 years free replacement and 2 more pro-rated.
