Re: Back at it again...Turbo LS Teaser
Dont worry im sure come next winter I will be building another LOL. Car ADD.
To answer costs here is a rough estimate
Hotside piping/vbands/flexpipe- $400ish Wastegates on sale -$450 BOV on sale- $100 Injectors on sale $305 Turbo “ebay GT45” $250 Turbo Blanket- $40 DEI Header wrap-$150ish Intercooler-$135 Intercooler piping/vband and cast elbow- $175ish
$1700
I built the kit around the GT45 knowing I would want to upgrade to a T4 Borg warner S475 or S480. since theya re similar size. The T4 S475 is around $850usd. With the way the build is taking off I wish I would bought it already lol.
Looking to buy a lot more shit in the upcoming months. I got my trans mount made this weekend so the 4l80e is going out to be built soon, ordering a PTC single disk converter, SFI flexplate, TCI trans controller and looking into a plug and play EFIsourse MS3-gold box to control the motor. I already have a stock harness 90% finished but I figure I may bite the bullet and get it done with before day care bills come at summer end lol. Working lots of OT these days.

Re: Back at it again...Turbo LS Teaser
Thats great!
It will give people like me realistic expectations on the cost of horsepower/kickasscar parts per dollar
My own turbo project involves a 180HP turbo V8..lol

Re: Back at it again...Turbo LS Teaser
Car is ALMOST ready to fire. Pulled the tune from the PCM, need to work on a custom OS to get it fired up. Been a LONG time since I went that in depth with EFIlive so im sure it will take me all week to get it fired up. I do have a leak at the fuel rails that I need to address. However I tapped the rails with a mallet this morning and the injectors popped in. So I may be good to at least fire it up then mess with the brakets I made. Gauges are all wrapped up though!

Re: Back at it again...Turbo LS Teaser
Wow I havnt posted on here in a long time!
Car has been running great, recently I had my balancer bolt back off. I ended up pinning the balancer since it was a bit messed up and same with the crank. I designed up a guide tool at work and made it out of Hardened H13 and drill the crank with a carbide drill. Waiting on the ARP bolt but the oil in the car didnt look promising. i saw some bearing material. Hope the motor will last the rest of the season then decide on what I wanna do. Been debating parting with the turbo stuff and going LS3 6 speed. but thats some pretty good coin. I may end up just forging the 5.3L maybe bore it to an iron 346. Who knows. Still thinking 6 speed though.
I got my new seats in this weekend as well. Also ordered a nice Nardi Steering wheel which should be in this week.
I also made some spoiler extensions I was planning on making a group buy for but more tire kickers than interest. The white one with the third brake like is only on by 2 way tape as I wanted to make sure im happy with it before I drill holes in my spoiler. I think I prefer the non brake like version. However I have other plans for this winter which may need to be done before I go ahead with bolting it on. (diffuser etc)
Anyways there is my small update and a few new pics of the car.

Re: Back at it again...Turbo LS Teaser
Thanks guys, Im hoping to keep the updates going, I kinda stopped as I thought they were killing the forum. I got the car running Thursday night, oil pressure was all good idle but have yet to take it for a spin as I was gone camping for the weekend. My Nardi wheel is in as well just need to grab it from my buddy.

Motor seems to be fine! Did a couple quick blasts around. Amazed what changing the seats and steering wheel did to the car. I literally feel like I'm in a go-cart. Steering feels nicer and more firm. Jay https://youtu.be/-jjp5Xd35RA

Re: Back at it again...Turbo LS Teaser
I did not. It is something I have been wanting to do since the Header is pretty damn close to the rag joint. Close enough I had to cut the dust shield off. Planning on a Kmemeber anyways so at that time I will probably swap it. I missed out on a good T56 combo yesterday. Debated to long and it sold on me . About to buy another combo though! Jay

T56 with tick master and monster clutch on the way! Complete swap. Pedals to driveshaft!.
Guess I'll have a stout 4l80e combo for grabs soon!

T56 will be sweet, are you still thinking about going LS3?

Re: Back at it again...Turbo LS Teaser
For now the motor seems to be fine. I think down the road it may happen. At least the trans I want till be in the car, a long block is a simple swap!
