Post Almost Ready to Fire up the LQ4 Swap
Its been a long haul, but almost ready to fire up the LQ4 swap. I started 1.5 yrs ago thinking I could do it over that winter..haha
Have been meaning to put up a build thread but haven't gotten around to it yet.

The intent is to be turbocharged, hopefully by next spring so the install was done with that in mind. I'll get it running NA and enjoy it again this summer first.
I plan on keeping the AC with the turbo which not many seem to do.

Here's the summary:
Sell LT1, get 2006 6.0L LQ4
Strip & paint block
Swap in Katech rod bolts, LS6 cam, PAC springs
Fit LQ4 with Fbody intake & accessories including AC (notch frame, custom AC hoses) using FBody stock manifolds & custom YPipe
Astro van steering shaft upgrade
Change LT1 T56 to LS1 including rebuilding, upgrading internals
Spec Stage 2+ clutch
Make hydrualic clutch master with Tilton unit
Fit Mishimoto aluminum rad
Wire up everything
Tune it with HP Tuners, 2bar SD.

Just have to bleed the clutch, pour oil in, and program the PCM.

I have HP Tuners and have been learning that over the past while..going to flash the base tune into the PCM tonight.

Dang, wish I would have known you were in Ottawa, I finished my LS swap not too long ago (I still haven't really driven it).
Good luck on the first crank!

I'm from Petawawa, the GF lives in Ottawa so I was there every weekend... Now not so much, I'm in Borden on a year long course.

I enjoyed the swap (I want to LSx power everything now) and don't mind helping people finish up! Hopefully be driving mine by the first weekend of May

Wish you guys would all quit doing LS swaps :(

It's making it harder to find good deals on engines and trannys with the LS going into everything :) My son just finished up a 5.3/RX8 though ( I was mostly tech support and rear exhaust fab)

Well, got it fired about 2 weeks ago, but it wouldn't stay running. Turns out it was a minor issue with the time in that the maf codes have to be enabled for the car to run in sd mode. This was not the easiest thing to find out!

Seems to run well now. Hopefully I'll take it for a spin this weekend.
