Back at it again...Turbo LS Teaser
Well I dont plan on making multiple Build threads as the last one was so time consuming with having like 5 forum threads lol. Keeping the threads down to TGO and Turboforums. But I figured I would update you guys with my project. Its a tad slow moving since I have a newborn but I seem to be getting very good at managing my time. I know most tell me why you building the same car you parted 5 years ago for a vette? I loved my vette but still had that emptiness of not having a 3rd Gen Z28/Iroc-z as I have such a soft spot for them. So after selling my vette I decided to pick up the 87 and had plans to basically build what I had before but keep it more simple, streetable and fun. Plus stick to a budget. Obviously I had to turbo it bc I think part of me felt Defeated by the last car spinning a motor during the initial tuning. So this car gets a Stock shortblock 05 5.3. Spin a bearing? Who cares it cost me $250. Anyways here is a small teaser since I got the turbo yesterday and it was shinny lol Just your typical ebay GT45, 5.3L, LS6 cam, etc. Not shooting for records or anything Jay

Re: Back at it again...Turbo LS Teaser
Hahaha I was actually building this with you in mind. I know you wanted something that fit without cutting the car. So I challenged myself a bit. It should also fit a T4 Borg Warner S400 series. I should be test fitting a S480 T4 soon.
Ill try to get some updates soon. Just waiting on a wack load of parts so i can get to work over the holidays.

Re: Back at it again...Turbo LS Teaser
Very nice!
It would be good if the LS swappers would have a part list that includes the cost for us interested in doing the same swap.

Re: Back at it again...Turbo LS Teaser
I build a lot of stuff myself, and if I were to add it all up I would get real depressed lol. I think I have spend like 5g in the last month between gauges, turbo components, fuel components, etc I have since completed the hotside with some nice new Tial 38mm gates, wrapped the crossover and whatnot. Just waiting til after xmas to order everything else I need. Still waiting for my speedhut gauges to be made also. I will have something that may interest a few of you soon . 8 in 1 LCD display will be in the dash (I had it custom built to show me, TPS, Boost/Kpa, Oil Pressure, Oil Temp, Trans Temp, Coolant Temp, EGT and Intake Temp! Speedhut gauges will be doing (fuel level, fuel pressure, volts, RPM, Speedo GPS) and I will be running an innovate SCG-1 (wideband/boost gauge with controller and shift light, also a failsafe gauge for overboost protection) Jay

Re: Back at it again...Turbo LS Teaser
Well I have got a bit more work done, nothing crazy. Gauge panel is done, Walbro 450lph Fuel pump is in, trans is mocked up. Should be yanking it to send to get built soon. Getting pretty close. I need to wire up the relay/fuel panel, weld the coldside piping, finish the exhaust (from front of trans to rear of trans more or less) , and wire the gauges. Then other small odds and ends. Downpipe transitions from 4 3/16 to 3.5" all the way back (eventually lol) Jay

Jay how much would you say it cost just in materials so far to make the custom kit, not including intercooler/injectors/etc.

Re: Back at it again...Turbo LS Teaser
BTW nice build....again I like your idea of a stock short block,HRM built a little 5.3 LS Turbo engine trying to blow it up it made almost 1000hp. Then they found out it wasn't even a 5.3 it was a 4.8
