Antenna ideas
So guys i was wondering
i really want to get rid of my antenna as antennas suck the big one
so i was thinking either to use a "shark fin" type thing and mount it up behind my t-tops
or is it possible to use my fender as the antenna
any expertease on this would be greatly appreciated

I use my rear window as my antenna. It works better than anything else you'll come up with thats clean. You cant even notice

Pickup an antenna line from say...crappy tire...and take the center lead, strip it back and connect it to the wire that goes to the rear window defroster. Seems to work great for me

Great idea! Do you use your defrost at all? If so, does it cause any interference problems, or does the defrost suffer? Probably wouldn't work as good on the almost vertical g-body window.

Good idea Jay! I am also interested in whether using the defroster interferes?

The only time i heard any interference was on AM stations...but i dont listen to AM...and it was only when the defrost was on...so i took the chance and it worked great

I think it wouldnt be to bad on the G-Body...have you seen the antenna for 2nd gen f-bodys? its built into the Windshield...the center of the window has 2 vertical line that go from bottom to top than across left to right...and those antennas worked great!

That's the way they did it for years in the 70's and they did work pretty good. It was actually an option on early g-bodies, so if/when I replace my windshield (still original and pitted), I may have them install one of these windows instead and fill the antenna hole in the fender. The hard part is finding the antenna connector itself.

if you turn it on the rear defrost maybe that would make it a power antenna
