Post Ministry of Transportation - Any dealings?
I was in Belleville this past weekend and ended up getting stuck until today due to a leaking brake line. As I was on my way back to my parents after picking up the car, I was pulled over by the Ministry of Transportation and upon a small inspection, was given a summons to appear in court due to "Operating a motor vehicle that contravenes emission standards". Basically, no charcoal canister, cat's or air pump. I have no compalints about complying with this but I just wanted to know if anyone else had dealing with MTO.

Also, this is a 1981 Trans Am, originally a 305 and now has a '77 400. Anyone know the correct routing for the canister (got one from my brother) and the proper placement of the air pump which I have to try and find?! The cat's are on order and I have not picked them up yet.

Any help/advise/experience is appreciated.

Are you sure it was MTO and not MOE (ministry of environment)? I've been pulled over by MOE twice in the last 3 years including just last month. The first time they told me they're cracking down on emissions violations.

Yeah, my bad.......It was MOE. I was coming to change my post. I have no idea where I am going to get a used AIR Pump/Smog Pump for a 30+ year old engine as I am not buying new. Then i have to install it. :arg:

I'm pretty sure they are specific to the application so I am going to have to find one for a 1981 Trans Am. Thanks though.

I think as long as theres a smog pump on the car who cares how its driven?

Shouldn't they care about you bettering your emissions equipment to make it more efficient?

Not a clue but what I do know is that this is a major thorn in my side right now.

i dont understand why you are putting one on now so quick. Is it if you go to court or whatever they want you to show up for they will drop the ticket or something??

I'm just trying to get this out of the way.........anyway......!

I spoke to the Prosecutor yesterday and I have decided not to get the AIR Pump, plead guilty (cat's and charcoal canister will be on by then) and hope for a reduced fine. I beleive if I show up with everything they asked for, the court has the option of just dropping everything and charging me $0.
