ALDL cable needed
Hi guys,
My Firebird failed it's e-test last year and has felt like it's running rich. A little dark smoke during hard throttle, unsteady idle, a little hesitation. Last year she scored a 242 HC ppm (limit 60) and a 1.88 CO% (limit .33) on the "ASM 2525" test, barely passed NO ppm and the idle tests.
I've been working on a two-transistor serial ALDL cable to try and help diagnose with only a little luck. I've tried twice now and both times only Freescan wants to work at all, and even it gets odd readings (speedo jumping all over the place, -40C coolant, 170+ for the IAT, etc..) along with a couple of accurate readings (RPM, throttle %). I don't know what I can trust. I've tried TunerPro, Datamaster, EFILive, only Freescan gives ANY results.
So basically, does anyone have a known good ALDL cable that I could borrow for a few hours? For all I know it's my PCM that's pooched or that I'm way off with the definition files (a real PITA to track down for a specific car).
Thanks.

Any chance that you'd consider loaning it to an infrequent forum member for a week or two? lol I go out to Scarborough most weekends, not too far from Oshawa. The T/A needs stickers so I couldn't just take the car with me.
