Post Question in regards to certifying a car
Hey all, I was just wondering, if the ABS INOP is lit on the dash of a 4th gen, will this cause the car to fail a certification inspection? I had reinstalled the airbag and original steering wheel and the light is still on. The original owner had installed a Momo steering wheel, so I am not sure exactly what he had done to the Airbag system. It seems that everything is plugged in as it should be. But the dash light is still on. But I need to have it safetied so I need to know if it will pass this way.

Nope you don't need ABS to pass a safety, mine passed with it on.

You do need air bags to pass a legit safety and will fail if the airbag light is on.

I was just about to say...

If there's an issue with the Airbag system, the SRS light will be on, not ABS, lol.

Is the SRS AND the ABS light on? Or did you just possibly get them mixed up?

Yeah, I 'm not use to all these new fangled gadgets. I 'm too old school
Anyhow, it is the abs system, not the airbags.. doh!!!
I guess I will just have to take in for a safety and hope for the best. If they question the abs light, I will address it then.

ABS light is not a problem, you don't need ABS to have good brakes.

As I said mine was on and it passed.
