T5 tranny fluid
So what is the proper fluid for a NWC T5? I have always heard/read that ATF was to be used in them but i now came across an article that says the original spec back then was Dextron 2 (which is apparently heavier than Dextron 3) and because it is not made anymore, they recommend 50w gear oil. They say you can still use Dextron 3 but it may affect shifting.
Any thoughts/comments?
thanks.

Re: T5 tranny fluid
Dexron ATF will work fine. Now the interesting question is Synt. or Dyno...

Re: T5 tranny fluid
Man this is an interesting topic because there are several sources online that swear NWC's take gear oil and only WC's take ATF....and of course there are arguements to the opposite as well (that the NWC's take ATF). But in the end, the GM manual says Dexron 2 which Dexron 3 was the replacement to so i guess i will continue going that way.
thanks.
