Rear disc brakes
I just changed the rear disc brake pads today. The rotors are in great shape, even the pads weren't too bad, but I changed them as I already had the new ones. Anyhow, took the car out to get gas and cruise around tonight and the passenger side brake started smoking real bad. The rotor was hot, hot, hot!! I was wondering what would cause the pad to rub on the rotor so much. Is it the caliper? Do I need to bleed them? Let me know, Thanks

Re: Rear disc brakes
Sounds like your calipers arent properly adjusting themselves and the pads are dragging on the rotors
Or like when it happened to me, it just happened to be a lack of lubrication and the pads got stuck on the rotor. they wouldnt come off on their own sinced they werent able to slide properly

Re: Rear disc brakes
Did you lubricate the sliders with Hi-Temp silicone grease?
There is something else I have noticed, if you don't use an OEM or a Premium pad the aftermarket white box or cheapo's can be thicker and don't have the proper chamfer and can cause the pad to drag and squeal.

Re: Rear disc brakes
I did use the high temp silicone and the pads are premium. I guess i wll pull it apart today and redo them. The drivers side is fine, just the passenger side. It might explain why my abs and ebrake lights are on. The abs actually went off after i changed the pads, but came on again later. Thanks for the info

I released it and dislodged it with a couple of taps with a hammer and kept repeating that with wd-40 on all the exposed areas. It seems to be letting go now.
