95 3.4 v6 question
Hi all. My father on laws 95 firebird, oil pressure gauge fluctuates or jumping during acceleration or once the engines is warm. Today while I was driving doing 60, tried to hit the gas more, but she hesitated. Any body with similar car experience this before?. And what's the deal with crazy oil pressure gauge.

Re: 95 3.4 v6 question

Re: 95 3.4 v6 question
This may be redundant info but perhaps start with the basics, check oil level, when was last change, filter tight? and so on. If the oil pressure drops the thing will start making a hell of a racket before it totally goes kaput. Sending unit failures are fairly common place. Gauge too sometimes they go whacky

http://youtu.be/1PKqeebkHWsHere's how the oil pressure gauge act during accelerations and deccelarations. And sometimes the gauge needles shakes up and down.

Re: 95 3.4 v6 question
You need to check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge to verify the accuracy and compare to the stock gauge reading.
9/10 times the problem is the oil sender, which is super common on those.
The hesitation and sputter could be anything. When's the last time it got plugs, wires, coils checked, injectors flushed, etc?
Start with the basic tune up usual parts. There's lots of places to look.

Re: 95 3.4 v6 question
I agree with the others, the oil pressure readings sound like a bad sending unit. My 3.8 did the same thing and it was a bad sending unit. Cheap, easy fix.
