Post 96 Firebird wiperblades - *ranty*
So the crappy tire 'precise fit' blades on the firebird went to shit and scratched the windshield. So I went to wal-mart to get some new ones and the book they had didn't list anything for 96....they only had 90-93(which doesn't make sense to me?) and 97-02.....Fine I went with the 97 figuring it was the same. Of course they didn't fit properly....interfered with the metal arm from the car. So I went back to wal-mart and got their version of the reflex blades....Again, absolutely no way they'll fit. So I rigged the old blades to work again and now I gotta return the new ones again - yaa fun :(

I went through this last time and the only brand that would fit is crappy tire's precise fit.....which is a shit blade. Looks like the issue is that unlike most cars the 'hook' is facing upward.

Has anyone found any better blades that fit these cars properly??

I just use refills as I have not found aftermarket ones(blades) that fit.

I refuse to pay $28.00 each for OEM.

Well at least I am not alone.lol.....I seriously threw a blade at the wall in the underground at school earlier today.
Well, I guess for what it's worth the crappy tire "precise fit" blades DO fit, however the rubber is a few mm's too short for the blade so it has a tendancy to slide out of it's position and allow the metal to scratch your windshield. I crimped the ends now where the rubber is held in, so hopefully that'll hold it in place. Maybe I'll get some refills and just cut them a little longer......Unfortunately the OE blades are long gone(p.o) so I can't just refill those.

i used the percise fit ones from crap tire and had that issue with the rubber to short, i just tigtend the tips so the metal frame grabs the rubber better. they only last about half a year. or 1 season.

I actually talked to John Heinricy about the wipers one time at Mosport,I think it was in 94/95.

I asked him what was up with all the plastic(cover/shield/louver on 'Birds)

He said it was actually functional and the wipers would stick to the windshield at 130mph,and they could see while racing in the rain.

He also cautioned do not try this at home

The same could not be said for the Mustang wipers

I used the Michellen Wipers that Costco sells on my Camaro when I had it, they fit perfectly, wiped very well, and didnt scratch!! Cheap too, like $13 each regular price, and sometimes they go on sale for like $8!!!

You could buy arms for a 98-02 and then use normal wiper blades
