4th Gen Window Leaks
Well this year im going to try and fix my window leaks ive been having on my Formula. The t-tops are fine on top it just leaks mainly around the where the window meets the t-top a bit on the side. Does not leak much on the backside. It does it more so on the drivers side and ive tried to adjust how the window sits when the door is closed and it helps but becaue ive made the window more on an angle to fit tighter against the t-top it will not shut all the way if it starts raining and i roll up the window as there is too much pressure and i end up having to push the door while driving or stopped while pushing the window button.
Hate having the small leaks and specially when im driving having to open the door to get it fully go up or when going to do it yourself car washes and the pressure washer gets past the window and im cleaning up the water after im done.
Is the t-top edge just old and deteriorated and need a new set that will seal against the window or something else? Im going to try and take the set from my dads this year to see if this is the case.
Thoughts?

The weather strip is probably compressed after 15-16yrs.
You will need to go to Hawks or somewhere like that,GM doesn't have inventory anymore for F car stuff its all past their 10yr cutoff now.

Are all 4th gen tops the same? I have a set from a 2000 TA for sale.

The dealer just has to call "Classic" and see if they have stock. I got an interior piece last year and it wasn't even badly priced. Took 3 days to get here.

Re: 4th Gen Window Leaks
Matt does it leak in the rain or just car washes? Mine doesn't withstand the pressure washer but doesn't leak otherwise.

Re: 4th Gen Window Leaks
Before i adjusted the window it dribble a bit down the window when raining along the a pillar area. Since then ive put in better door hinges as the door was sagging and had alot of play. But when you close the door and look up at the top you can see where it doesnt sit totally flush against the t-top edge. Im going to try and re adjust it when i bring it out cause i havent bother playing with it since i put in the newer hinges.

Re: 4th Gen Window Leaks
I say replace the t top seals as when I did it on the 85 I had WOW did it seal after that. Nothing was getting by at all. I could barely get the dam door closed on it thats how good the seal was on it

Re: 4th Gen Window Leaks
My coupe does that too....just a little dribble when driving in the rain. I figure it's because the seal is just compressed after so many years. A job for some less busy time.

Re: 4th Gen Window Leaks
Matt, if you have moved your door by replacing the hinges you may also need to adjust the glass as well...Remove the liner, you will see all the points of adjustment to tilt the glass up/down front to back and change the angle away or toward the body...loosen the bolts slightly, put the window up, move the window to proper setting then retighten...it's a bit tricky but not hard. Also, drench the T-Top rubbers in baby oil at least 3 times a year especially before going into storage...When I replaced T-Top seals I would add a 1/8" window glazing tape under the seal to help with water and raise the seal tighter to the top...

Re: 4th Gen Window Leaks
Its not even the whole weather stripping thats the issue its the seal sitting along the side of the t-top outer edge and along the a pillar which i dont even know if they can be purchased seperatly new. Used might work but i dont want to pay for them and not fix the problem and be stuck with them
