Post Need help identifing these connectors
Ok so heres the story. I have a 89 but the harness was hacked for a 4th gen dash set up and instead of looking to find all the stock connections I decieded to get a new one. So I ended up with a 87 Iroc dash harness out of a parts car I had. Its completely never been touched ever. Im looking for the wires to connect the reverse lights and neutral safety switch. So heres some info on the harness

Its from a 87 Iroc, 5 speed, all options and TPI

I took the ECU connectors and wiring out but I have a few I have no clue what they are for. Here are the pictures of the connectors. I will decribe the areas they are in the best I can. All are from the dash harness.

PLEASE let me know if you have a clue as to what these connectors are. Thanks

THESE 2 ARE FROM WHERE THE STEERING COLUMN CONNECTORS ARE

Image

THESE 2 ARE CONNECTED TOGETHER. THE ONE ON THE RIGHT WAS MIXED IN WITH THE ECU CONNECTOR WIRING. THE OTHER IS CONNECTED TO THE ONE ON THE RIGHT BUT THE CONNECTOR IS NEAR WHERE THE CIGERRETTE LIGHTER IS IN THE HARNESS

Image

THESE 2 WHERE ALL THE WAY OVER WHERE THE ECU IS BUT NOT IN THE SAME WIRING MESS BUT STRECH ALL THE ALL TO THE PASSENGER DOOR

Image

ONE RANDOM ORANGE WIRE NEAR WHERE THE H-VAC CONNECTORS ARE. NO CLUE WHAT IT WOULD BE FOR

last one with the org wire may be cig lighter, should trace back to the Acc fuse if so.

I have a bunch of PDF's for wiring. I think they're 91 but should be the same for some stuff as what you're working with. I have 6 files, 30mb total.

If you could send the files that would be cool. Im sure its not for the cig lighter as that one is a round plug.

I just want to get this thing in my car ASAP as ths is holding me up now

I think I figured out the wiring in the 3rd pic down from the top. Looks to be the parking brake wire

Found a couple more connectors I dont know where they go

I think this is the VSS as it plugs into the C1 VSS in the harness ( Brown wire ) and the pink goes to a mass of othe pink wires that look the same. I take it that the pink is a 12v source of some sort

Image

Also found this one

its got a yellow wire that goes to the steering column, and a purple one that goes to B4 on the C100 ( starting system ) but before then it splits and one end goes to the fuse block

Ok heres some more onfo on the other wiring from before. I hope this helps with getting an answer as I know there are alot of knowledgeable people on here for wiring

FIRST PICTURE

RED single wire plug goes to G5 on the C100 which says G5 is power distribution ( light switch, fuse block )

other connector with the 3 wires going into it

Orange - Goes to the second fuse panel. I call it a relay box. Its located on the passenger side of the steering column

Yellow - goes to C on the connector to the rear part of the harness towards the hatch area

Blue - goes to B on the connector to the rear part of the harness towards the hatch area

SECOND PICTURE

The black conector with 5 wires coming out of it

2 Pink wires - go to the fuse block

Green - goes to G on the connector to the rear part of the harness towards the hatch area

Blue - goes to the connector on the left as you can see where the plug into together. Then to the fuse block after

Brown - G7 on the C100 - Computer command console ( V8 VIN H, V8 VIN G )

Red connector on the left

Blue - Goes to the fuse panel and to the connector on the right

Purple - Goes into the steering column

THID PICTURE

Im pretty sure this is the parking brake wire and the other has to do with the center console

FOURTH PICTURE

is a random orange power wire that is near the cigerrette lighter

Ray,

Feel free to drop by and have a look at my 89. Since it had no seats, pretty easy to see things.

You can drop the dash panel out if you want (as long as it goes back) :D

Bill is your car a 5speed car by any chance and I think I figured out the single orange wire as there is the same wire on the steering column. I think it has to do wth the cruise control

Thanks Bill I might just do that to get a idea of where the wires go. I got the parts you wanted as well.

It has something to do with the ignition/starter. Basically that's on of the things you bridge together when you have VATS and it's broken. It will bypass the ECM's starter lockout. VATS ones are green/yellow. Non VATS are purple yellow. My red T/A had purple yellow, my GTA has green yellow

If the starter relay goes bad and you turn the key, nothing happens. Without that connector being in place, turn the key, nothing happens.

figured out just to wire the purple and yellow wires together as they are the neutral safety switch, or just wire them to the clutch peddle.

Also figured out that the single red wire on the with connector in the first pic is for the cruise control

Also figured out the one in the first pic 5th post down from the top to also be part of the cruise control.
