has anyone had a rearend sandblasted complete (minus brakes) without stripping it right down and removing the gears and axles? I have been told by a couple companies now that with the seals in you will be fine and no sand/media will get in. I am not entirely confident though having done some sandblasting years ago when doing the bodywork on the car and seeing that it gets everywhere.

Yeah that will work but Id replace the seals and fluid at bare minimum afterwards. You wont get sand it but dont shoot directly at the seals either. But it does get everywhere. I mean everywhere blah....

I have done it wihout any problems.
As was mentioned I did replace the axle seals after I was done. I taped off the yoke seal to protect it and did not replace it afterwards.

ok cool, thanks. One of the places does powder coating as well for a very good price but it has to be completely stripped. I would save money buying the paint and my labour but then labour and cost of installing gears may not be worth it. Good to know blasting it complete is a viable option.
