Post Camaro Seat Re-Upholstery
Now I know why Custom Upholstery costs and Arm and a Leg!

I'm writing this as a DIY as well as a build thread, for all those that would like to attempt this....It's a fairly daunting task, be sure you have some seamstress experience before even thinking about it.

First thing, dissasemble the seats taking pictures of hogring positions, harnesses, nuts & bolts etc. Put nuts and bolts into baggies that are clearly marked (so they go back together where they belong)

Once the seats are separated (back/cushion) and you feel comfortable with the number of pix you have, take a few more of the listing wire positions (the wires that the hogrings loop around to fasten the cover to the seat)

Once you have that done, dissasemble each cover into individual panels using a stitch ripper. Have patience, the factory stitching is fairly secure and in our case we're dealing with 20 year old fabric.

On our seats there is 1/4" foam attached to the cover, we're replacing this foam so that must be dissasembled carefully and patterns cut for the foam, the cloth and mesh backing (the backing helps the cover slide back onto the seat without tearing your brand new foam).

The foam and mesh is then stitched to its corresponding panel with a basic sewing machine, then those panels are stitched together using a serger.

If you have created your panels correctly and stitched them together the way they came apart you should be ready for a test fit.

Once you have all your covers test fitted, the hogringing can begin.
This is the first cover we have completed, so......
to be continued.....:D

Looks like a pretty good job...just a note to line your patterns up easier on the next seat is to add hash marks accross the seams from one panel to the next before you separate the stitching, then transfer those marks to the new pieces and they will be much easier to re-allign when sewing the new pieces...Also use marine grade thread, it resists UV alot more than regular thread.
Also use "laminated foam" to sew to your new patterns, you can get it from an automotive upholstery shop...it has a light mesh layer attached to it to give the thread something to bite into or the thread may tear through the foam... You can also spray glue the new fabric to the foam before you stich the patterns back together to reduce the amount of sag in the panels...Just some extra tips, I used to do upholstery up till about 12 years ago...good job.
Post pics of the completed project...
