Project Frankenstein
Not sure what else to classify this project so I decided on Project Frankenstein... I purchased my original 1982 Firebird last fall from the guy I sold it to. It is a plain jane car as you can get, the only option on the car was the T-roof. It has a v-6 auto with 2:73 drum rear end. The body is mint on the car, but I will have to put new floorpans in. I saved all my electrical and mechanical parts from my 1987 TA as well as the WS6 suspension and drivetrain. I also just recently bought a L98 350 that was rebuilt. I am replacing the TPI setup with my carb setup from my '87 305. The motor will have an Edelbrock Performer intake, Holley 650 SB carb, Accel super coil and wires, K&N airfilter w/ Xtremeflo lid and headers dumping into my Dynomax catback exhaust. All the mechanical parts will be removed and replaced with my '87 parts, ie...700R tranny w/ shift kit, BW 9 bolt w/ disc brakes bower brake booster and proportioning valve, windshield wipers and motor, headlight assemblies, tail lights, suspension (which will be stripped, cleaned up and repainted) complete wiring harness both under the hood and inside. I also will be installiing my digital dash with all the necessary sensors. Then it will have a set of near mint beige GTA seats that are fully operational. I have a set of refinished 16 x 8 Trans Am rims with 245/50/16 BFG's. Since this is almost just a complete swap, I hope to have it ready for this summer.

Re: Project Frankenstein
No, it's a white 1990 GTA right beside the 1982 . My '87 was black...

Re: Project Frankenstein
Well it's been awhile so I thought I would share what I found so far... The good , the bad and the ugly...I think i should have named this project Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. I have put on the rims I bought as well as replaced the stock tail lights with my TA lights. So the interior is out and I was a little disappointed at what I have found... Anyhow the good.... The bad..... Lowly 2.8 in an engine bay that is in desperate need of some cleaning and fixing up. Motor will be coming out soon... Motor to replace it... And the UGLY!!!... So far I have the front passenger floor pan, but I still need the drivers side as well as the rear passenger pans. Just waiting for an email from a guy on Thirdgen.org. Hopefully I can get at it soon.

Re: Project Frankenstein
that rust is pretty bad for sure. Are you doing the floor pans or a shop?? I know there is a parts place located in kingston or belleville. Cant remember which as its been awhile since Ive been on their website. I was gonna redo my 85 floors again till i decided it just wasnt worth it as the car was way too far gone. Anyways they sell floor pans and it was pretty cheap and shipping was pretty low or you could pick them up from them. If I find the website Ill send it to you.

Re: Project Frankenstein
Yeah, the rust is bad, but it is fixable. If you find that place, let me know. Thanks

Re: Project Frankenstein
CrossCanada does full length floor pans for a 90 Firebird. Can't tell from the pic if they go into the rear footwell. They're 65" long. For the pc under the rear seat I think you'll need a donor.

Re: Project Frankenstein
I think you are right, so if anyone happens to have a parts car that has some good pans under the rear seats, let me know. Cross Canada is pretty dear, I know that Partsource here can get them for around $350 each. Cross Canada wants almost $600 each side.

Re: Project Frankenstein
Ididn't say it was ready, just the motor to replace the 2.8 L...LOL I still need to button everything back up on the motor, if you look real close, you will see that the intake bolts aren't installed yet either....
