Nice Tony! Looks like you're enjoying the car and getting miles on it. Haven't made it down to an HDR this year but I've seen your car in the pics.

I'd say the engine conversion was well worth it.

Must be a blast to drive. Probably handles awesome too... we just finished a lt1/t5 swap into a 67 Camaro and it actually carves corners nicely compared to before making it a choir to do. Same setup as yours was originally a BB car and it easily shed somewhere in the 500-1000lb range off the front end.

Nice work!

The only way you got 1000lb of the front end is if the new engine went in the trunk.

Thanks guys. There is a great improvement in handling with the new engine and suspension setup for sure, no comparison, and much more enjoyable to drive as well. Now that I have had a chance to put some miles on the new setup and clear up some of the minor bugs, I have to say it was well worth the swap.

Went to Cayuga with the C5 crew a few weeks back, did the road course and was an absolute blast. Also, did the dragstrip about a dozen times, but couldn't get a better time than 13.07 at 110mph spinning with my street tires. My 60' were not any better, and were in the mid 2's. Gotta get me some slicks, then 12's are a definite possibility.

Oh, and the rig was turbo charged, I didn't stand a chance, lol

AN iron headed BBC is about 200lbs heavier than an iron headed SBC. I dunno how much LS engines weigh but an SBC with a TPI is even closer to the weight of a BBC.

If the BBC has aluminum heads you can knock 40 lbs off the weight :)

yes but the fan club can always argue that they put AL heads on the SBCs too :D

All I know is a carb and distributor is at least 20lbs in wiring lighter than a TPI setup.

Bottom line is I like this build because its a daily driven classic

Holly i might of exagurated a bit and i get my ass chewed... you get the point i was trying to make is we shed a tone of weight by going to an aluminum headed lt1 backed a t5 vs the heavy bbc and 4spd. It handled like complete crap untill now with the weight reduction it handles 10x better then it did before. This build has the same goal in mind as it was built to drive and cruise while being much better on fuel and likely quicker.

Awesome Job Tony! I still have yet to see it in person!

Thanks guys. I have contemplated the idea of going with 17" Rallys as I have always been a fan of them. I had to ditch my 15" Rally set due to the Wilwood brakes which are now on the car. Please see pic below of a sample 17" set. If I go this route, I may not go with the chrome rim, but the powder coated grey with center caps if I decide on this change.

Looks good Tony! Are the polished one aluminum or chrome? Reason i say that is aluminum is a PITA to keep up as you have to polished and wax them all the time to keep the finish up. My TT2's are horrible for that so thats why i bring it up. The Polished look is really nice but the Grey would be easy to keep up and just wash and go.
