lol @vette owners...
I did mention they are on my 4200lb Magnum right? I was just using it for comparison to the Vredestein, as they are the only group I have ever seen really liking this tire. The INVOs on the other hand seem to be pretty popular on Z06s. Though I would still never consider them for my Formula.
A list of tires I personally have used on the Firebird. (110,000kms)
Goodyear F1 Steels - trash tire - terrible in the rain (stock power)
Firestone SV50-EP - 2 sets, loved this tire - awesome in the rain too, a shame it is gone(stock power)
Kuhmo V710 - 2 sets, great for autocross, short runs on track, can be rain driven slowly on a 275, but 315s no way (430rwhp and 511rwhp)
Nitto 555RII - used for a front street tire, R Compound, rain is no problem (511rwhp and 533rwhp)
Nitto 555R - used as a rear street tire, 2 sets, rain is no problem, (511rwhp and 533rwhp)
Mickey Thompson DRII - used as street tire with the Nittos in front, hated this tire, as they squirmed. Never drove them in the rain and doubt they would be ok.(533rwhp)
Toyo R888s - not a bad tire, not meant for rain but I did win an autocross in the rain with them on, drove home on them and they planed through a puddle on the QEW at 80kms. (533rwhp)
Nitto NT-05R - for a rear street tire. Should be over 600rwhp, untested
Plus various drag tire set ups, but they do not apply.
On the Magnums (220,000kms):
Goodyear F1 Supercars - 2 sets, not a bad tire dry or wet. (340hp and 425hp)
Toyo Proxes 4 - hated the tire, poor in dry and rain (340hp)
Hankook Ventus Evo 112k - great tire wet or dry, a little soft in the sidewall (340hp)
Nitto INVOs - impressed so far, not a lot of forward bite in the rain. (425hp)
For real input of high grip tires try, (F Body Road Race and Auto Cross) FRRAX.com, the guys there actually race the cars and use timing systems to see the difference. FYI, there is a Watts link tuning thread ongoing on there right now.
