Post Project 1BadZ28
New to the boards and thought I'd share with you a previous project of mine.

Hopefully I get the chance to meet some of you!

Hey guys so I hear you all like building things from scratch?
Now first off I just want to say that I don't want anyone saying "Oh you should have just bought a 2000 camaro and saved yourself the time and money"
Time and money aren't my concern. Building something from scratch was.

Anyways now for something everyone loves! MINIMAL COMMENTING AND TONS OF PICTURES.

Build took a swift 90 degree turn into this.

Never on the road shell that was donated by GM to a school to practice body work. Was actually a firebird but I drilled all the spot welds out and welded on Camaro quarters!

Yuck! Let's fix that

Love it.

SO I had an exhaust hangar (the one for the rear pass side) that I needed to de-rustify lol. Didn't want to be bothered with the sandblaster so I found a neat trick online using baking soda, water and a battery charger and the results were incredible. This bracket was believed to be garbage when I got it because it was so badly flaking with rust. Check this out.

BOOM CLEAN.

AND THIS is how my car sits right now... probably going to raise it up a bit lol.

Just bought the torque arm relocation bracket/tranny crossmember off another guy on the forums!
Here's a pic of that:

And I was getting ticked off looking at that little 2.5 inch pipe from the maf to my inner fender so I upgraded to 4 inch and it just looks so right... No more bottleneck baby! Yes I know there is a black zip tie holding the header wrap... going to the store and buying some metal ones tomorrow ;)

Mounted my bowtie grille! What do you guys think?

Update on this car: It has been taken apart for my new projects. Was a great prototype but it did not turn out the way I wanted it to.

This car paved the way for many more better things to come. You all may think I am crazy, and I am.

At least you can all say you've seen the birth and death of a pretty cool Camaro!

SO YEAH SHE'S DEAD AND JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT YOU WOULD LIKE ME :P!

On to bigger and better things. This was a great learning experience and I though I would share my journey with you all :)

I'll post my next build and daily on here in a few!

How long did this take from birth to death and what actually killed the project if I may please ask?

Cheers,

Holy smokes... I can honestly say I didn't think you'd cut it in half. haha!!
Have something to do with the VIN on that body?

Post Re: Project 1BadZ28
Nope nothing to do with the vin on the body. It was considered a firebird as per the ownership. As for why I killed the project. The car had it's issues. It never really lined up right and it just had so many mismatching parts that my OCD self couldn't deal with it anymore LOL

The car took 6 months to build, I drove it for a summer and was fed up with it by the end of that.

I cut up the shell because I am keeping all the metal off of it for future projects that may need clean parts like floor pans and a rad support and such.
