Re: Gee's Bird
Stuck the "643" grind L98 cam in my spare block tonight and measured all the specs.
Plugged all the specs of your motor stock & then with your FLowtech headers and the 2 different L98 cams I have. According to the simulations the 643 grind is the preferred cam for your combo showing 10 hp more than the other L98 cam.
Attached the Dyno2003 plots of stock vs with headers & 643 L98 cam.
Pretty healthy pick up in power!

Re: Gee's Bird
Hey I might be able to keep up to you a bit Was the calculations done with the new ignition. I am guessing new fuel reg and a lot of tuning will need to be done.

Dyno2003 simulations make the assumption that ignition/tune etc are optimized. They also tend to be fairly accurate when actual measurements are used, especially with regards to cam timing events which is why I spent the time the other night with my dial indicator and degree wheel measuring both L98 cams. Based on the limited info on the internet regarding the various L98 cam grinds I'd have put good money on the 773 L98 cam from my '91 being the one to use, however after measuring all the specs & running the simulations, turns out the 643 grind L98 cam should make around 10 more hp in the 305 than the 773.......go figure! Hopefully these mods will give the 305 a little more pep!!

Gee If your shop of choice isn't able to deal with the issue of dialing in the chip for you, I have the technology! Its just an issue of time with me....seems like every day off I have, there is something on my agenda!
