Why not?

I always swap an 8" and tweet into the 6x9 spot on any car if I can, I dont like oval speakers, I find the 8's give better sound 8)

Liking your AMP choice

I was thinking more along the lines of why bother with rear fill at all. The fronts should give you all the staging you require.

Might be true if your not running 5.1 suround sound (2 front, 2 rear and 1 center), I want my sound image from all the expected area's, those 8's were specificaly selected because they were just a woofer and not a sub woofer and to play the frequencys required for that area

Also if I was going for a perfect sound image, non of my speakers would be mounted were they are, stock locations in our car's are not the greatest for proper imaging, you'll also find my door speakers not mounted at the perfect angle either, my stereo competition days are long over, so perfection isnt required, just close enuff for these old ears ;)

At least you wont see me in here with a RTA listening to Pink, er.. i mean pink noise

 Actualy it was a joke, because Bill used to compete in car audio competitions like me I know he'll get it  If I was listening to Pink I'd have to grab the RTA stand and sing along and I am a horrible singer  not to mension pulling off a "Risky Business" scene in a car instead of the living room, just isnt the same, might get me arrested

Thing is my deck has a built in Multi-Ch AUTO-EQ (with Mic) and has Multi-Ch AUTO-Time Alignment, so it will be set up perfectly good enuff for my old ear's, but you wont see me in any IASCA events though 8)

The sub box was spec'd to a musical set-up not a SPL encloser, thats why it takes up so much more space, so ya I am leaning more towards the SQ then good old POUNDING but I still think two ported 10" W7's with a 1000watts will give me more then enuff bass for them day's I wish I was a teen again

For those that dont know what Bill is talking about, by "staging" you are trying to set the sound image as if you're at a show, for the vocals to sound like they are comming from "center stage". With my set-up I am cheating and getting the center stage sound with my center channel. There are tons of profecsionals that will tell you "and most likely can" that you can get better staging sound if u know what you are doing, with properly placed/angled/adjusted front speakers, they use a RTA and pink noise to help set it all up and put the sound image were it belongs. Thats about as "english" as I can say it, after that i'd have to resort to quoting tech crap and we all know how confusing that can get

Honestly I'd rather leave all that tech crap out of my thread and just focus on my set-up as it is and not the y's, so if u have any sound tech questions please start a new thread in the tech section and ask Bill, I am too lazy

Besides like who the hell wants to listen to pink noise, eh?
