What power are you shooting for? All along I was hoping for 700 or better at the flywheel. I think it showed signs before of being capable of 650ish with the old heads assuming a 75-80 hp drivetrain loss at that power level. The current heads and cam came from an HKE 468 with the same intake as me, but my intake likely flows 10-15cfm better than his. He had a Harrop too. He made 671rwhp/645rwtq NA on 93 octane and 11.1:1 similar to my 11.2:1. That was with a full exhaust and no cutouts. He trapped 138 spinning through the first 2 gears in a C6 Vette. He is going bigger now The Vette is going Turbo with LS7 heads and his track car is going AllPro LS7 with a Knisler ITB. The Vette for him is a DD. He has a 2600 lb track car.

Re: Project - New/Old School
Latest update. Finally got the motor fired up in anger and unleashed the beast. Final numbers, 703hp@6150 and 661ft.lbs@5100, 560ft.lbs@3400. Tune is pretty conservative, 12.65-13.0 AFR. 11.2:1 compression on 94 octane. Made me smile. Ls7 455 with a Harrop, Part 2 - Car Videos on StreetFire

Too many R & Rs have left lots of scars. As for the clutch, it was rebuilt with the same friction disc that McLeod uses on their 1800hp version, hopefully it holds up, but I am not totally confident in it. We actually lowered the pressure on it too. We had it at 2400lbs of clamping pressure, now we are at 1800. The pedal effort was crazy.

I wanted to save a little weight, make it a lot stronger and still have a Watts link. Plus it will be nice to have the to option of a spare 3rd member with a spool and different gear. For the exhaust I figured it is time to treat it like it was a big block, since the cubes are getting up there.

Re: Project - New/Old School
Took my time today and after 5 hours had it all out and side by side to make swapping the brakes, hoses and wiring over. I ended up stripping 2 of the brake line fittings nuts. There is lots of line, can I get new ones and have someone flare them on, or do I just make new ones? These are the hard lines on the diff itself. New diff and the old 12 bolt. Old Watts vs the New one. Old torque arm vs the new one. Did some weighing to see if I saved some weight, I was happy that it will knock 47.5 lbs out of the weight of the car. Not as much off the diff as I would have liked. 12 bolt, 212lbs + Fayes Watts, 26.5lbs + Torque arm, 30.5lbs for a total of 269lbs. Fabbed 9", 192.5lbs + Watts, 11.5lbs + Torque arm, 17.5lbs for a total of 221.5lbs. Anyway, still have a good bit of work to go.
