Post Car pukes fuel out the filler neck
Okay..

In August, my fuel pump went, so I took it the shop to have it replaced. In order to avoid dropping the rear-end, they cut the filler neck off the tank and replaced it with a rad hose.

Ever since then, when I've gone to put fuel in the car, it will puke out the filler neck unless you hold the trigger at 1/4 throttle. I thought all along it was because they had damaged the vent in the filler neck, so today I had them put a new tank in to fix the problem. Well, the new tank and filler neck are in, and I still have the exact same problem.

You squeeze the trigger, the nozzle gags and fuel pukes out the filler neck. It makes no sense to anyone why it's doing this. The guys at the shop just laughed. They are at a loss for words.

Has anyone else had this issue? What can I trouble shoot from here?

Someone suggested the vent solenoid to me, but doesn't that only come in to play when the car is running? Or the return line could be reversed, or attached to the vent line..? I don't know. Help lol.

Something plugged up in the vent.

The filler neck or the tank needs to have some sort of vent tube to let the air escape as the fuel takes it's place to get rid of the "gulping" effect.

Sounds like some shady tree mechanics if they cut your "filler neck" off the tank to avoid dropping the rear end. In fact, I dont even understand what that has to do with it? You dont NEED to drop the rear end to remove the tank on a 3rd/4th gen F-Body, lol.

Check the evap line and make sure nothings pinched or capped off.

All of this was done with the old tank, and again with the new. It doesn't make any sense.

Right, and you said that it started happening once they replaced the fuel pump (and cut the filler neck off in the process of not dropping the rear end, which again, doesn't make sense) and replaced the filler neck with rad hose.

Obviously they had to lower the tank down some how, maybe not all the way to the ground but they definitely lowered it and in that process they could have pinched some of the other lines.

So, again, check your evap lines and tank vent. Make sure nothing is pinched.

Okay, let's assume all of that has been done and nothing is pinched. What then?

So are you saying they cut the filler neck on the new tank too?

No no. When they put the new tank/sender in yesterday, they dropped the rear-end and put the tank in with the new filler neck.

The problem originated when the new fuel pump was installed in August. At that point the filler neck was cut off the old tank and replaced with a rad hose. The vent tube was damaged at that point, but now that there is a new tank/filler neck and the problem persists, we are stumped ..

Hey look, we think alike :D

And no OP. This is a matter of physics, so unless the new tank you have was manufactured without any form of a vent tube/line, then no theirs no other possibilities.

Unless acts of god count ;)

Ironicaly my Escalade does the same thing, but only at the Pioneer here in town, every other gas station seems to be fine so i dont know why it doesnt like this one, it has done it ever since they put in all the new pumps, maybe they just shoot the fuel too fast, but its a royal pain in the ass to fill when the pump shuts off every 3 seconds and trying to find a sweet spot I cant tell u how many times I'v had to wipe off the gas from the paint :(
