Post TPI to LS swap
Hi guys.....
About 7 years ago I did my 305 ... to L98 from a 87 vette..... the motor had only 50.000 plus on it.... Back them he pushed very hard for me to take the LS1 swap but I really wanted a 350 tpi.
I just spoke to him and he tried to push me another Ls + t56 complete swap.
Just as curiosity.....
What is involved to get that done?
How painfull was it?
What parts beside the harness, tranny, ecm, and the motor do I need?
Anybody done that around here?
Any regrets?

tks

Swap it and don't look back!

I'm on my second LS swapped 3rd gen. Both being turbo cars. But I owned a C5 vette in between. Hard to beat the performance, reliability and gas mileage the LS gets.

Making the harness from a stock car/truck harness isnt too bad if you focus and double and triple check everything. or you can buy a plug and play setup from "pocket" on TGO.

I'm doing the swap right now. Read the link Hawk gave and it will give you the details.
You'll need to figure out accessories if you're not getting an f-body LS1 donor.
Also think about:
exhaust (make one or buy stainless woks headers/y-pipe)
motor mounts (buy adapters)
trans mount (make or buy if T56)
speedometer drive (depends on your car - do you need mechanical drive?)
fuel supply & regulator (will need pump upgrade, regulator near engine or LS tank & pump)

I'm also making my own harness. Here's a link for wiring if using the 0411 pcm: http://www.thirdgen.org/forums/ltx-lsx/ ... -into.html

Not much as I fabricate everything myself.

Alex it's all if what you want to get out of it. Do you want to leave it stock or do you plan on doing some work to it? ,my car was a complet LS swap till I sold the shell. I got a 86 now that I will be putting my parts Into. Im suggest stainless works LTs headers and hawks trans x member. You will need the room for the exhaust. I will have a set of adapter brackets for sale soon as I won't need them with my UMI k member as it uses the stock LS mounts. If you need to know anything just ask
