What are you looking to have done? I had my motor build at Revn High in pickering and nothing but good praise if your out this way. Wildgoose Performance is a sponser here and in the Hamilton area if your out that way.

First question i need to ask is where are you located and do you have to pass emissions? That CC306 will not even come close to passing emissions and even a good tuner would likely have a his hands full. If you have Stroker motor you would be alot bet off as the more cubes will eat the big duration cams. There are alot better cams out there that will make more power and have better driveability then the 306. Not that the 306 cam isnt a good performer as it is but its very old and outdated. As for intake porting you make ZERO power by porting it other then porting the inlet for a 58mm throttlebody. Its dyno proven and not worth wasting your money on. Head porting you have some options locally but they are not very good and your best bet is to have them sent down south and be done at Advanced Inductions or Lloyd Elliott. Alot of things to take into consideration and i have lot of feedback to give as i just finished putting mine together.

Questions:

What do you have done to car as it sits?
What is your goal with car?
What is your long term goal with the car?
Is it going to be a street or strip car?

These questions will not only help you make the best choice but likely save you money from having to redo things down the road.

Well there lots of options to since you don't have to worry about emissions. My car is very mild heads/cam and puts down that goal. Do you want that heavy sounding cam or driveability. I hope jay can chime in he's using a much bigger LE designed cam than mine and it will make big power once its tuned. You don't want to go to aggressive and it becomes a battle to drive it. Jay is running the 228/236 .592 110lsa cam and it sounds just like a 306 cam with much better powerband driveability. The benifit now is that there a lot more custom grind cam makers out there that can match something to your build. Without emissions in mind you can easily hit the 410-430rwhp mark depending on the head/cam combo.

ditch the lt4, ditch the cc306 and you have something going for you. Why use old technology when new parts are available for the same price.

Think I'll keep the lt4 for now but as far as the heads go has anyone dealt with the lyod Elliot he seems to kno his stuff an can set you up with a quality heads cam kit just not sure about shipping an everything his le2 heads seem appealing an as far as cams go he has a few really good options there I like the rough sound this car will not be a daily driver just a Saturday toy So if there's anyone out there who has done one of those packages or head porting from advanced inductions or whoever let me kno

Both Flame and Leroy have both had there h/c/i done before by Lloyd. He does great work for the price but if you are after the big power Advanced Inductions is leading the pack but they are more expensive. Look up some idle vids on youtube of what your after. If it only a street car and doesnt see the track there is no point in buying a cam that sounds nasty but doesnt even make power till 4,000rpm and pulls to 6500-7000rpm. Whats the point in having a cam work like that when you can even make use of that on the street. You can take my cam for example it chops pretty hard for a small cam. Its made on a 112lsa so its smoother. If you had lloyd make that on a 107 or 110lsa it would chop hard like CC306 or alike but make power starting from 2,000-6100ish. I really love how my LE cam is tons of torque and the curve is badass. Im not saying its not okay to buy a cam that starts making power later in the powerband as its what you want and how you want the car to perform. IMO i want the power from idle to redline for the street and if it was a track car it would revving to the moon to make as much power possible. Need to think about these two things before you go out and buy a cam and hate it.

Check out StealthFormula on youtube he has a 97 Formula WS6 with the LE2 heads and mild 224/230 on a very wide LSA like a 107 or something. That way you can listen to how badass that car sounds but the powerband is totally different. IMO thats the best way to go if you after that huge choppy idle but what the powerband for the street. I was going to have my cam spec'd like that but it wouldnt pass emissions for crap lol so i stuck with the 112lsa to pass.

With the stock LT4 heads/intake and a Hotcam mine put down 366hp to the wheels, so if you're going the full h/c/i route, you may want to be a bit more ambitious. And 366 at the wheels was more than enough to snap the diff with 4.10s and an m6.

Lloyd Elliot was good to work with. When I was getting my motor built, I talked with him about what I was looking for and he delivered it.

I had the LE2 heads and a 230/230 .600 112 LSA cam that put down 410rwhp370rwtq and went a best of 12.15@115mph. Don't expect that the first time out though. I had well over a hundred passes before that happened and a summer full of tuning. Prior to that I had a 306 cam and hated it. The thing was gutless until 3000rpms and that was with 3:73 gears. It did make 345/340 and ran 12.78 but for street driving it sucked. If I had stayed in the LT1 game my money would have went to Advanced Induction the next time.
