Cant wait to see what it puts down once you get it dialed in Jay! That cam sounds awesome in person that vid doesnt give it justice.

Hoping to see what mine will do at the track once i get my trip done and over with. Will be a hybrid LT1 as of next year just picked up the 24x LS1 PCM conversiont to send the opti back to hell where it came from. Be interested to see how much i might gain by using the LS1 pcm. Debating to swap out the cam while i pull the timing cover too 8)

he said swap camshaft not swap the TA for a cavalier..lol

I wouldnt bother with it Vetty personally. The LS1's power advantage over LT1 is the head flow characteristics not the electronics. Intake plays a part to,(longer wider runners). IMO

I'm not doing to make power but it will help and there are lots of results making up to 15rwhp going from a properly working car to this swap. I'm doing it to delete the opti for reliability the rest of the ls1 pcm pro's are are a bonus. Coil on plug, faster pcm, way better tunability, and just a much better WAY less ignition problems. We'll see how it goes next year when I get to installing it.

Well I didnt change my tune at ALL and went to the track tonight...ran a 12.4 @ 114.2mph with a 1.841 60'.

If I didnt have that 10 bolt in there id be more keen to dropping the clutch from 4500+ rpms. Considering thats from 3200ish rpms, Im impressed. The car has 11's in it EASY with a nice launch.

BTW do the LS1 PCM swap. That way you still have the sick sound of the LT1 but the full tun-ability and advantages that the LS1 has.

Besides, your motor is fresh. If you go LS then you gotta pray that whatever you buy is in good condition.

lol

topic: Perfect example is Jay's car. Carb/HEI is not more tunable or reliable than the LT1 electronics but yet the engine makes a lot of power. IMO its the basics. Intake and camshaft(then head and shortblock) Other stuff is just secondary.

I've also gone the Lloyd Elliott route a few years back and still run it. I have the LE2 with a '2.2' cam and self ported the intake. Still running the mailorder tune from Bryan Herter at PCMforless that's pretty rich.

For the money, the LE stuff works well. The car ran 12.6 @ 114MPH the only time I've had it to a track since the setup went on in 2007 with 4.10's. 60ft's were only in the 2.0 range. It pulls 375rwhp on a mustang dyno and drives very well on the street. I know there's more in the tune..

I'll have the complete motor up for sale hopefully next spring as I'm putting together a turbo 6.0LS motor. Drop me line if interested. Only reason for going LS is tuning for boosted and the high compression ratio.

Heads: ‘561’ Castings ported by Lloyd Elliott. 11.1:1 Compression using GM 0.029" 12553160 gaskets. Stock 1995 block.
Cam: LE2.2 107LSA 0.603” valve lift/1.6 Comp Cams Pro Mag rockers, PAC springs.

Holy crow...I must've done an excellent job on my '643' casting heads then, because I port matched and ported them myself with a Carbide bit and a dremel, because I too have a stock 1995 short block, and a smaller cam..and I have the exact same trap speed as you, I have 2 tenths on you though ;)

Man, gotta love LT1's :)

Ha..Nice times...sounds like yours is dialed in better than mine.. I've never spent the time or $$ for the last 25HP
1-3/4" long tubes would help me too..I still run 1-5/8" mid length MAC headers that must choke it at the upper revs.
Here's a few pics.

Thats some very nice looking work! I dont think mine look as nice but eh, im on a budget and not a porting master ;)

My car is rocking 1 5/8's headers too...not even D-ports, just regular old SBC round ports haha. As for being dialed in? Hardly...im sure theres another 20-30hp on the table in my setup too...i dont know how much timing im running (not enough to detonate, thats what i know) and my WOT AFR's are mid to high 12's according to my wideband.

I dont even have all the 'bolt-on' mods. I'm still running the Stock mechanical waterpump, stock pulleys and all the accesories (minus the A/C, since my car is a factory non-a/c car).

Im actually thinking about switching to an electric water-pump. After hot-lapping my car at the track i now see the real-world advantages of one, aside from freeing up some power...cooler idle temp and faster cool-downs with the car off since I can run the pump with the engine off.

Got any videos or sound clips of your car? I bet that thing sounds incredible!

Nah, No video's or sounds clips since the heads and cam went in there.
It does sound pretty wicked though!
I'll have to get a video before the motor comes out..
