Post Need help with corvette rims
Hey I have a 1995 z28 Camaro and I just bought 2006 c6 corvette rims (18s on front 19s on back). I was wondering what you guys think of spacers and if anyone has any recommendations as far as tire sizes etc. From what I have gathered threw google I need 1.25 inch spacers on the back. Also I need 255 40s tires on the front and 295 30s on the back. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I just cut my bump stop mounts off with a grinder and my Vette Y2K's fit with no spacers.

I ran 285/35/18 in the rear and 275/40/17 on the front,I should have gone 295 in the rear but I was playing it safe.

An adjustable panhard bar will help center the axle better,I didn't have one on my V6.

I am running 2003 Z06 rims with no spacers at all on my 99, 275/40R17 on the front and 295/35R18 on the rear, no issues for me with the bump stops, but the rear inner wheel well needed some massaging or it would rub, especially when cornering spiritedly

I think you need to recheck your sizes m8, yours are NOT bigger, ours are wider and basically same diameter

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

275/40R17 is 25.7" dia and a 255/40R18 is only 26" dia, .300/2 is just over 1/8 an inch difference, so good comparison, lol, and our tire being wider means u will have more room to play then us, only thing is I don't know the 06 offset compared to the 03, but Trigger has C6 vette rims on his 3rd gen and runs same size spacers I did when I had my C5's on a 3rd gen.

295/35R18 is 26.1" dia and your 295/30R19's are only 26" dia so again very comparable size ;)

Hope that helps clarify things more for you

Put the rims on the rear and lower the car on a jack until ride height is achieved then spin the rims and look for rubbing.

Like Adrian said you may need to message the inner wheel well wall with a BFH.

But only to clear the tire.

A rim rubbing is a big deal a tire rubbing is a BFH and a baseball bat to roll the quarter panel edge.

On our old 96, we ran 275/40R17's on all 4 paws, but I had American Racing rims

OrangeGoatee runs ZR1 rims on his 95 and he runs 275/40R17 up front with 315/35R17's on the rear, those are mean wide rear paws he has

Post Re: Need help with corvette rims
...so the tire sizes are good but Im still confused on if I need tire spacers and if so what size. Also will I need to do anything with the wheel wells etc.I measured the back rim and its 13.5 inches ..im just worried they will stick out too far and look stupid or get me pulled over.I don't get what these numbers represent I guess lol.I found yokohama tires for 295 a piece for the back each and 229 each for the front is that good? thanks for all the help so far. :D

You can do it 2 ways, you can Google online for the rim offsets your rims have, or you can mount them on the car and see what size, if any, spacer you will require
The c5 Z06 rims don't require a spacer at all on the 4th gen, but require a 2" spacer to run them on a 3rd gen

ok thanks man, I am going to try putting them on and see what happens. Do you think the tires are a good deal? Can the spacers be bought at any tire store or just on e bay?

Do NOT buy the spacers at any tire store as they buy the cheapest junk and sell high. Also do not buy a universal or oval hole set as they never fit properly. Plus if you buy cheap you get cheap and Ive seen rims fly by on ebay crap spacers. Also one thing if you plan on taking your car to the track I dont reccomend using spacers while at the track

Ok I will check them out, thanks for all the help guys. I found a better deal on tires but the front tire size is a little bigger then what I posted before. The tires I need in the front are 255 40 18s the tire size I found is 265 40 18s...Is that a big difference and will it make the front sit higher then the back if I still go with 295 30 19s on the back? will that make the speedometer off badly?
