Fuel pump died
Can anyone recommend someone in Scarborough that won't take me to cleaners to install a new fuel pump in my 96-Z28 please?
Cars are great right up until they break down and leave you stranded!
Thanks in advance, Ken

Re: Fuel pump died
It's not that bad a DIY job...did you check the fuel pump relay behind the drivers kick panel? There are tons of video's on You Tube showing how to cut an access panel in the floor in the rear under the carpet to remove the fuel pump assy without dropping the exhaust and tank, most new cars have that access panel now

Re: Fuel pump died
Thanks for suggesting to check the relay. However, it was fine.
Bought a new pump from Hot Spot auto for $347 plus tax.
Can't bring myself to cut an access hole in the floor of a southern, rust free car. I was fussy to get a car that wasn't molested.
A friend helped me install the pump today. What a job. If that ever happens again, the next electric pump will be external.
Thanks for everyone's help!
Cheers, Ken

Re: Fuel pump died
I have advice for anyone with a 4th generation Camaro with a fuel pump in the tank. NEVER run out of gas! The new pump manual says if you run a new pump dry for more than 3-seconds? Kiss it goodbye! I can't believe I put 200k on one of these back in its day and never ran out of gas. I've only been driving this one for a month. Ran out of gas pulling up to the gas station. Coasted in. Filled the tank and then @#$%! Oh well... Cheers, Ken

Re: Fuel pump died
^Did you put it an aftermarket pump that died?
I cant believe you spent $347 on a stock replacement pump...ouch! A Walboro 255 wouldve been $150 new and is a much better pump and works with the stock regulator.
Good luck!

Re: Fuel pump died
Okay so that crappy fuel pump only lasted 2-years. It died when the tank was 3/4 full.
Where do you get this Walboro 255 fuel pump locally please?
Thanks, Ken

Re: Fuel pump died
Racetronix makes a kit to replace the pump in the stock bucket

Re: Fuel pump died
Get it from Racetronix. I think they are actually in Toronto if I recall from an old shipment. I'd also recommend the hotlwire kit as well if your car is anything but stock.

Re: Fuel pump died
Thank you very kindly.
Someone should invent a conversion kit to move the pump outside the tank like normal cars.
Cheers, Ken

Re: Fuel pump died
The pump is in the tank to keep it cooled in the fuel and for noise. 99% of fuel injected cars its in the tank.
