Post Springs
What is the difference between progressive and liner springs? what is the life of springs? What springs do you guys recommend? Its only $100 for stock springs but its $350 each for the eitbach ones..is it worth the extra cash and would they be any firmer then the stock ones? The guy at car quest said progressive springs will bottom out easier(at first) and I should avoid them. He is also saying going with such bigger tires and rims it could cause tranny problems and its illegal to have tires sticking out past the car. He said there is no such thing as heavy duty springs either. I really don't trust this guy as what he is saying makes no sense to me. That's why I am here because you guys have never steered me wrong ! If this doesn't work I am going back to stock at this point..

Those parts places often give craptastic advice. Springs are measured in rate, lbs per inch. I run Eibach stuff, its German made decent quality product, the fit and finish is high caliber and they seem to last a long time. Easy goof proof way to set the ride height how you want it. If racing is your thing Sam Strano is one heck of a knowledgeable gent who will surely guide you straight.

Id run the Pro Kit from Eiback with Bilstein HD shocks. Excellent combo

Post Re: Springs
In my search, I've found that both the 5665 and the cc635 are both listed as stock replacements. But my understanding was that the cc635 springs were "cargo coil" variable rate aftermarket springs that were supposed to stiffen the ride for people that had things like heavy sub enclosures in the rear compartment. Being progressive gives a softer ride at start, but with more load in the back and the stiffer they get, why they are called cargo springs/coils by most.

Rear
CC635 - 104 lb Variable Rate
5665 - 107 lb

It seems like every aftermarket spring lowers your car, am I the only one who likes stock ride height ?! I have heard a lot of good things about Eibach springs so I think I will stick with the "goof proof" choice. What do you mean set the ride height how I want it? By the way I already installed kyb adjustable shocks. What do you guys think of spring spacers also? Thanks everybody for the help so far !

Your stock springs will have sagged a good inch by now. Go with the eibach kit and you will be about the same height as you are now.

I personally prefer the stock height, but many people like the cars lowered better 8)

Post Re: Springs
wiith the rims I am running there is no way I could or would want to lower my car. I don't get why eibach doesn't have stock height springs as I am sure there is a demand for it..

Post Re: Springs
Just run a new set of Moog replacements, either the cc635 cargo's or the 5665's, will give the rear its stock height back, and make sure they are properly aligned in there stock perches, the springs do NOT sit in just any old position, there are dents to except proper rotation, car will sit uneven if not positioned properly

Just so you know, my 99 is lowered (not by me, previous owner) and I run 295/35 rear tires on 03 Z06 rims, I had to do some massaging on the inner fender, very minor massaging as they "just" touched, other then that nothing else was needed. 8)

I thought I might have to roll the fenders like I did on my 92, but was not the case.

I have been debating swapping in some Moog 5665's in the 99 to get the rear back closer to stock height as I have a small system in the back with two 10's so with the added weight it does not have that muscle car stance I so like

I am not a big fan of them rubber things people stuff in there springs, but my 86 had metal perches that mounted to the rear-end itself and the springs sat on them giving aprox an inch more height.

We put the Moog cc635's in the 96, because every dip in the road or bump and it was always bottoming out after the stereo install, once we swapped out the stock springs and put in the cc635's, never bottomed out again, even when loaded up for the beach 8)

99, lowered, 275/40 fronts and 295/35 rears
Image

96, bones stock springs and height, no stereo, 275/40 all 4 paws, personally I like this old school muscle car stance the best

96, Z06 rims, 265/40 fronts and 295/35 rear tires after stereo install and cc635's rear springs
