Post Quality exhaust work in Scarborough
Greetings everyone,

My exhaust was hanging a bit low after hitting a few extreme pot holes. The clamps must not have been tight enough after removing the muffler and re-installing it after changing a fuel pump several months ago.

I took my car to Thruway Muffler at 2583 Eglinton Ave. I asked them to see if they could re-adjust the system and tighten the clamps? They said the "right way" to do the job was th re-hang the system at the back, remove the clamp and weld in a small exention to replace the clamp. Before they start the job I ask the muffler technician if he's aware that the car has a stainless steel exhaust from front to back and he says "I know it does, it's not problem. I will fix it right".

Who am I to argue with the "right way" to do things?

I get home and find out that they welded a mild steel patch into a stainless steel exhaust system. When I went back to Thruway, the excuses were "We don't stock stainless steel pipe" and "We're a universal muffler repair shop and don't work with stainless". I asked both the manager and the technician if they owned a car like mine with a complete stainless exhaust, would they weld in a stainless or mild steel patch? Neither had anything intelligent to say. They could have ordered the pipe.

They offered to re-weld the patch if I bring them the stainless steel pipe. Another problem is the technician left the center pipe way to low and it bottems out on just about everything. I was promised the exhaust system would be hung correctly. Sorry buy I can't trust anything they say after this last experience.

Can anyone recommend a good exhaust place in Scarborough that can do things right? Not asking for cheap. I'm asking for good quality workmanship please?

Thanks in advance,
Ken

I went to GT Custom exhaust in Pickering. Not Scarborough but they do good work and I know they stock stainless.

Go to Noyz Boyz in Scarborough. They do custom exhaust and are great to deal with.

Thanks Pomp.

You joined in 2009 and this question brought out your first post? You must do a lot of reading and very little talking.

I feel privileged.

What are you driving Pomp?

Thanks again,
Ken

Nice ride! Nice colour too.

11.8 is fast. Open headers?

Cheers,
Ken

It does so with complete exhaust including cats. It passes the E-test with flying colors.

My car is at Noyz Boyz. They are 5 minutes from my home.

They are on the ball. The exhaust leak that everyone else said I had, was actually a loose spark plug.

They are removing the mild steel patch and replacing it with stainless as well as re-hanging the exhaust closer to the chassis.

I'm also having new spark plugs installed.

The car is supposed to be ready later today. Report at 6:00. News and weather at 11:00.

Thanks,
Ken

Noyz Boyz did a good quality job and the price was more than fair.

Some said the miss was a lifter noise. Others said an exhaust leak. Jameel at Noyz Boyz found a loose spark plug within 5-minutes of examining the car. They installed new spark plugs and car has never run smoother.

They have earned a repeat customer today.

Cheers,
Ken
