Hi all!

Just joined the forum & wanted to introduce myself.

My story starts 21 years ago! I was a young 21 year old kid & just bought an '88 Firebird Formula. When I bought it I thought it was a 305 TPI 5 spd car.....I find out later a previous owner had swapped a 350 TPI into it (no wonder it had the steam it did!). It was the fastest, baddest car out of everything any of my friends had, so I drove it as it was (stock) for several years & loved every minute of it.
Then I met the woman that would eventually become my wife. Prior to meeting her I was only driving 20'ish kms to work......no problem! Once we got married I was driving over 75 kms each way to work....the Formula was killing me on gas (if thats possible when gas was 49 cents a litre!). The decision was made to deal it on something fuel efficient to commute with (a '96 Cavalier 5 spd coupe). At the time I know the Cavalier was the car I needed & was a great car for what I was doing. That thing would religiously turn in over 700 kms to a tank, but it wasn't my Formula.

Fast forward to 2008. My kids are grown & doing their own thing, I'm no longer commuting (only 7 kms each way to work).......I'm in a position in my life to bring a toy back into my life! That's when my '99 GTP came home.

Over the next 6 years I tinkered away with it & modified it into a 330 whp rocket.....wanna talk about a sleeper!! The car was an absolute blast to drive & I enjoyed every minute cruising around in it & working on it. But as fast as the car was, my heart still layed with my '88 Formula......I regretted dealing that car every day. In terms of power & performance, my GTP made my Formula look absolutey silly, but the combination of RWD & the V8 noises & instant torque were still where my thoughts were at.

Then this spring while cruising around Kijiji I come across my newest toy. A 1991 Firebird Formula! It checks off all the boxes for me. 350 TPI engine, T-tops (I'm a sucker for t-tops), virtually rust free underneath, & the guy was almost giving it away! A deal was struck & the car came home!

And now the work begins this winter to put her in the condition I want it to be in.....time to roll the sleeves up!

Hey Guys

I should probably introduce myself the proper way as well. From the oshawa area. My first car was an 83 Z28 and once the family came the car went
Well last week I managed to pick up an 88 GTA hardtop with the 5.7 TPI. Car is in great shape with 128,000 on it and is in almost original condition aside from a missing rear Spoiler and headliner.

Well, when I bought the car, I got what I felt to be a smokin' deal on it because it barely ran/started. Sifting through all the receipts, documentation, photos the previous owner gave me, it turns out the car has only had 1200 kms put on it since Mar. 2009....the remainder of the time the car sat in his garage. This leads me to believe that is when the car started running like poo. Judging by the pile of parts the previous owner gave me, he made his best effort at resolving the problems, but was simply in over his head & lost faith in the car & parked it. I've been tinkering with it & have resolved all the running issues (random stalling when warm....pcm was freaking out, new pcm solved that issue. Miserable cold starts where being caused by low fuel pressure...new pump resolved that problem. Misfire was being caused by a bad wire on #1....new wires solved that.) Rather than rush ahead & try to get the car certified & on the road ASAP, I've given myself this winter to thoroughly go through the car & try to find & resolve as many bugs/issues as I can (& I've found a LOT. Previous owner tried hard, but was a bit of a hack at certain things!). When I do finally put the car on the road I want it to be a pleasurable driving experience again that doesn't end with the car being towed home!!! Once I'm confident that all the bugs are worked out, then I will work on making this car faster than the one its replaced!

One thing that I did do right away was to get rid of those God awful stripes! That was not the original decal package this car came with, so it had to go! Surprising how much cleaner looking the car is without them!

Hey guys!! I am not really new but it's been a really long time since I was here! I miss all the summer shows but hopefully next summer will be different. I still have my T.A. , just haven't driven it much at all. If all goes good this winter it will receive some new parts and hopefully I will make it down to some shows!! Just wanted to say "Hi again"

Hey guys new to the forums. I've got a 2010 Camaro SS in yellow. Started modding it with some Borla cat backs, H&R super sport springs. Been to the 1/4 mile track a few times, looking to do some motor mods over the winter so I can surprise my buddy in his 2011 Mustang. We're pretty close on the track but I just can't get passed him. Thinking tires and gears will help me stay even and then some power adders for the win! Hope to get some good information from this forum.
