Removing rubber after a day at the track.
Plastic Razors take off rubber with ease. It took me about 5 minutes a side. I scraped it off, used Turtle Bug and Tar Remover and buffed it clean.
Lee Valley sells both Yellow and Orange blades I tried the orange first and they worked awesome.
Anyway this will save me hours literally. :d

Why not just cover the area with masking tape and then pull the whole lot off when you're done?

I hear if you spray a light oil on before hand then it will just wipe right off. My car being black doesn't show too much but it usually cleans off when I wash it. Keep it waxed good.

I do wax my car a fair bit. It had 5 coats in 3 weeks before I went to the track.
As for masking tape, I hate to see a car look hacked like that. Its just me.
I have tried Burnout Guard, but even then if you are using a really R compound tire you get a lot more rubber thrown up there. On street tires you mostly get cool rubber that was in the burn out box thrown on there, but with a soft DR or slick it can be a real pain as it is hot rubber being thrown around.
I plan to try Pam next time, but I know the razor will clean any thing the Pam misses. I bet it will do an awesome job on bugs too.
I just thought I would let anyone know if they have a similar problem.
I typically do a pretty hard burnout to get them hot.

Hmmm good tip. I still have rubber on mine that I cant seem to get off. I burn the hell out of my tires to get them hooking too it seems the only way. 4 seconds 200rpm south of the limiter and it leaves mess like crazy and I too have avoided the duct tape trick for vanity reason but I was thinking white duct tape would look too bad? Anyways I heard from one guy that easy off oven cleaner works excellent and wont harm the paint but I was hoping someone else would try it before I did LOL.
The plastic razors are definitely going into my bag of tricks next time out there thanks for the tip

What is cheaper and easier to gett the rubber off, is to wipe down that section of the quarter panel with vaseline before hand...than just wash it as normal afterwards

Although I've never tried vaseline I did try pledge ultra and pam but the rubber is sooooo hot and I think DR rubber melts higher than slicks but regardless it still stuck just as bad and was just as hard to clean off PLUS all the greasy film of the pledge made it a bigger pita than without. Just my experience is all

I planned to try that too, but as mentioned by Cam, the rubber still stuck through the Burnout guard I bought.

I look at the weather reports before it moves. Even the hourly and the radar map.
I hope to seek a couple more road runs out of it and possibly a lapping day next weekend at TMP.

This is the stuff I use. Absolutely the best cleaner. Spray it on and watch it run off. No kidding. http://www.tarminator.com/

Re: Removing rubber after a day at the track.
Should revise my this old thread. Joe Gibbs Degreaser. About $5 a can. http://joegibbsdriven.com/products/clea ... easer.htmlWildgoose is a sponsor, after I ordered it from them and tried it. It is all Jim Wildgoose uses to clean the rubber off his race car. Also to clean under the car and under his hood. Great stuff. I am om my second case of it since last year.
