EGR and Corvette heads
So when I put the corvette aluminum heads '113 I never did anything about the EGR. I am wondering if I should of, and if that could possibly causing my lower than expected power. My understanding that it can mess with the knock semsor and cause the computer to pull timing? Any insight?

Re: EGR and Corvette heads
Runs an external EGR, I have to do the same on my Plow Truck because the RPM heads (like the vette heads) have no heat risers, runs off a pipe from your headers.
SDPC has the kits, they sell them for use with there TPI Vortec imtake, or used to anyways

Re: EGR and Corvette heads
Would you happen to know the part# or any other place that sells it. I checked out SDPC but can't find it. Do you think it could be part of the reason why the car doesn't perform as it should? computer pulling timing? There is little to no vacuum in an engine during WOT so the valve would not operate. Most aftermarket camshafts have enough egr created through valve timing as well. Put your money towards tuning what you have.

Re: EGR and Corvette heads
Thats because like the RPM heads and the Vette heads, the Vortec heads have no heat risers Look at the top right by the distibutor hole, thats the external EGR mount place, but you will have to custom weld the pipe to your headers since only LT1 headers already have the EGR passage, thats why I used the 96-98 Vortec headers on my 91 truck

Re: EGR and Corvette heads
Do you think the EGR missing causes any issue with performance?

Others would know that better then me, Dan knows alot and he doesnt seem to think so flame wrote: If you are talking about WOT power no. Put your money towards tuning what you have. I just run my EGR on the truck to keep it legal, and helps with my e-tests

Re: EGR and Corvette heads
Thanks for the input guys! Might just leave it the way it is for now. I will change out the knock sensor for a 350 unit just incase that was causing any issues. Also going to look into the ESC (electronic spark control module) apperently when you swap 305 to 350 this should be changed?? I almost have everything for my T56 swap now too! can't wait to get it all swapped in.

Re: EGR and Corvette heads
yes the 305 knock sensor is different than the 350 sensor, start there, also recheck the timing. When you did the camshaft did you put a new timing chain on(did you put any advance into the cam as well). I have never heard that the spark control module is different than between the 305 and 350
