Post new carb help
Hey, I'm having trouble getting my car to run good, I just put on a fresh Carb stage 2 from jet performance but I need some help fine tunning it, I'm around qew and erinmills parkway, I'll pay what ever it cost for someone to come here and help me out, I have all the tools needed

Its a stage 2 qjet, I can get it fired up no problem but its idling high and backfiring...

Holley ,q jet,Square bore ,spread bore,mechanical or vacuum secondary?z choke?size?.picture,number,link?

High idle and too advanced is sometimes caused by timing..where is the timing set?..

Its a quadrajet Carb electric choke, I'm scarred to look at the timing cause when it stalls the Carb spits,

Set the base timing(tab at the balancer),vac gauge to any port below the base plate..turn the idle mixture screws where you get max vacuum..fine tune timing then do it again.

If i wanted to lower the fast idle would i tunr it clockwise or counter? What's a good starting point for the idle mixture screws?

IIRC its counter. Look at the throttle plates. the more it open the higher the idle..This is of course if the choke is already open(warm)..

OK, I got the idle down but its still back firing, its not that loud there kinda quite but consistant almost sounds like popcorn popping but louder obviously

Yes but I can only see the 0 on the tab, I've tried too advance and retard the timing but still have the backfiring, it starts no problem, idles fine for 15 seconds or so then starts to pop the corn

Did you touch the rockers since i set them for you? I hope not..it ran fine before so there should be no reason it would randomly be the valve lash. If the lash isn't setup right yes it can induce popping.

Double check your firing order. Make sure you don't have a cracked spark plug or a plug wire arching to the headers.

You just did an intake swap. What else changed?? Did you use the proper intake gaskets? Did they seal properly??

There's lots of this gas to check for.
