Intermittent ABS Light
Hi Guys, Another small issue going on with the 96 Firebird. About 50% of the time, when I start the car the ABS light comes on immediately and will stay on until I shut the car off. If I do shut the car off and restart, *most* of the time it goes off.
I am not experiencing any other trouble symptoms other than the light.
Car has been doing this for a few months now, seems to be getting more frequent. I am hoping it's a sensor or something and not ECU or ABS module related?
BTW: I have an OBII scanner, but I haven't been able to get it when the ABS light is actually on. Should I be able to scan ABS codes with it, or do I need something special?

Re: Intermittent ABS Light
That depends on the scanner. The average home unit will only do CARB codes.

Even though the light shuts off and on intermittently it will still save a trouble code in memory. Telling you what the exaxct problem is will be a crap shoot..you'll need to scan the system to know for sure, thats the only way.

Re: Intermittent ABS Light
Thanks guys. I'll have to get it scanner whenever I get a spare minute. Fortunately the light has remained off for the last couple days.
