4th gen brake conversion
Has anyone personally done a an LS1 brake conversion on their 3rd gen?
I've found all the documentation but I'm a little bit confused on a few points. Anyone in the GTA available to meet up in the spring and discuss or help with conversion?

Re: 4th gen brake conversion
I did LS1 on my rears but went with C4 HD on the fronts as they are better than the ls ones and still fit in 16" wheels. Used Flynbye. http://www.flynbye.com/ for all the front stuff and the prop valve. Also had to change to the drum brake master cyclinder. Best thing I've ever done to the car!

Re: 4th gen brake conversion
^ Seriously. Upgrading brakes on these cars is one of the best mods to do. LS1 fronts are an easy swap, you can find a few sources for the brackets on their own or as mentioned, Ed miller kit and done. Hawks ceramic pads are good for the street, low dust, decent bite.

Rears are easy as you can get the entire LS swap for a couple hundred bucks and it is bolt on. Fronts are a bit more work but if you can drill, tap and cut your good to go

Re: 4th gen brake conversion
Ya lukeskaff's site is probably the most helpful. I have done both LS1 Fbody Fronts and just did C5 Z06 Fronts on my current Camaro. Both are very simple. Nice thing about LS1 fronts is you can still fit a 16" wheel and if you ever wanted to run 5th Gen/CTS-v Brembo's all you are to do is drill the holes bigger and tap them.
I did all of mine from scratch. Build the brackets at work, tossed the rotors on the lathe and machined them into hubs and modded the spindles.
Like Cam said, its probably the best mod for these cars. I probably couldn't count on 1 hand how many times I almost rear ended someone in my old 383 N/A setup since the cam was big. Once I went to LS1 fronts it was amazing. That was my selling feature to the wife for doing corvette fronts. Said if your gonna drive this car Im upgrading the brakes first lol

Re: 4th gen brake conversion
Whats your thoughts on performance difference between the LS1 fronts vs C5's Jay? I cant tell much difference in terms of bite and stopping power between the two personally, and the bonus of 16" wheel fitment is a major plus.
Worth mentioning too that safety wire and red locktite are both mandatory for safe use on adapter brackets to spindle. No such thing as "too safe"
