Re: need some help and info
Some things to check;
Wheels tight? Tires concentric and balanced?
Wheel bearings good?
Ball joints/tie rod/front end inspection
Driveshaft tight? U joints good?

Check for cotter pins in the steering components as I had one of the parts come loose off the steering box and it was like that before the bolt came off. All because of a 25cent cotter pin. when it lets got you just better make sure your not on the hwyor you have no control. I was lucky as I was in a timmies drivethru

Re: need some help and info
Check front tires for wear or bulges. Also check to see if a caliper might be sticking. If the car was stored it could be either of those. Also if they are new rims or tires you might need to have them balanced

Re: need some help and info
The ball joints in these are pressed in. They are a pain to do if you dont have the proper tools. They can be done on the car but you have to drop the front shocks and spindels. And support the lower control arm to keep the spring from coming out.

Re: need some help and info
ya..don't even try it without a ball joint press.. I learned that one the hard way many years ago. They're handy for replacing bushings as well if you don't have one.

Re: need some help and info
It's pretty basic: Put front of car on jack stands from front of 'frame rails'. I put an 8x8" pc of plywood between the jackstands and the frame so as not to dent it up. Make sure there's enough room to fit BJ press under BJ. Jack up control arm so strut isn't carrying spring tension. Make sure this is secure/won't slide out. Put a strong chain through coil spring/control arm in case the jack slips and lets spring go..it'll kill you. Remove cotter/BJ Nut. Beat the hell out of it with a pickle fork to split it from the knuckle. Press old BJ out/new BJ in. Clean up taper in knuckle/install on BJ stud/torque to specs (GM or BJ manufacturer). Install BJ nut/cotter. Grease new BJ. Have a beer.

Re: need some help and info
You shouldn't need to remove the tie rod. The knuckle and strut should swing out of the way. The BJ press I am familiar with is just a huge C-clamp with adapters to fit the BJ/Arm. You don't need much room to get the BJ in or out, just have to get the press on it.
