Tranny rebuild time!!!!

Pulled the trans apart on Saturday and gave it the once over. Seems to look pretty clean inside with no excessive signs of wear.

All the old parts will be put the "hot tank" for a good clean with all new internals going in next week.

Are you replacing the clutches and bands?

Make sure you pickup a brand new drum if you are. No matter what someone else tells you, if you mill/machine the drum even once from a 700/4l60 and then reuse it, it'll warp, distort and boch your new rebuild.

Good luck.

Had a little setback with the trans rebuild.

Decided to clean and paint the throttle body. Used a half can of Throttle Body Cleaner and some q-tips to get into the corners. Now its nice and clean.

Also, added a new IROC Z plate I picked up from ebay a while back. Overall, pretty happy with the results. Used VHT Chassis paint in satin black.

Cleaning the rest of the tranny parts.

Decide to gasket match and smooth out the runners on my new Accel base. TPIS gaskets finally arrived...just in time. :D

New Accel manifold...VERY hard to fine.

Dremmel came in handy

Plenum is out getting a satin finish. Little mock up to see what it will look like. Glad I went with SS allen bolts.

More tranny rebuilding today. Assembly directions have two options...firm and firmest. Firmest sounds good.

Removing the old springs and installing the springs gave my thumbs a workout  Pulled all the springs off the ring before I realized the I had to choose between firm and FULL RACE...oh well FULL RACE it is.

Added the .500 TV valve as well. Need to add thicker plates to the clutch pack to keep the tolerance within spec. Need to reduce .020"

Should be finished next week.

0.500 TV Valve

New blades, rings and springs installed

White "FULL RACE" springs installed...all 19 of them

LOTS of this stuff

Valve body cleaned and new holes drilled

FIRMEST is the only way to go....

Got the intake from a guy in Alberta. He never installed it. :D

I gasket matched the intake runners and exhaust gasket and smoothed out everything inside with the dremmel.
